Mike Sickels, Chairman, Director Since 1998

Mr. Sickels is co-founder of People's Bank of Commerce and has served as People's Bank's Chairman of the Board since it was chartered in March 1998. He also served as the bank's chief executive officer from 1998 to 2008. Mr. Sickels currently serves on the bank’s Audit, ALCO and Senior Loan Committees. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President/Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of Western Bank from 1985 until 1996, after serving other various financial and executive positions within the bank since 1967. In 2006, Mr. Sickels was honored by Oregon Bankers Association with an induction into the Hall of Fame. Mr. Sickels has held numerous leadership roles within Oregon community banking. Most notably, he has served on the board of directors, often holding officer positions, for Oregon Bankers Association, Independent Community Bankers of Oregon and BancSource. He also serves on the Finance Committee for the Oregon Economic Community Development Department. During his career, Mr. Sickels has dedicated his time to the Rogue Valley through his board involvement with Medford Rotary Club, Medford Rotary Foundation and the Rogue Gallery & Art Center. He has also been an avid supporter of a wide range of community organizations and youth activities.
 

Bill Jacobs, Jr., Vice Chairman, Director Since 1998

Mr. Jacobs has been Vice Chair of People’s Bank’s board of directors since 2004. He serves as Chairman of People’s Bank’s Audit and Compensation Committees. He also serves on the board’s ALCO and Senior Loan Committees. Mr. Jacobs served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Tash Inc., Rancho Cucamonga, California, a service and wholesale supplier, from 1991 until his retirement in 1992 as executive officer and retirement from the board of directors in 1995. Mr. Jacobs previously served as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Pic 'N' Save Corp., a national retail chain, Dominguez, California, from 1987 to 1990. He is currently an Elder of Westminster Presbyterian Church and serves in its Personnel Commission. Mr. Jacobs’ former board appointments have included the Rogue Gallery & Art Center, which he chaired for two years, and the Southern Oregon Humane Society.

 

Craig Horton, Director Since 2004 

Mr. Horton serves on the bank’s Audit, Compensation, Nominating and Senior Loan Committees. He is president of Medford Better Housing Association Inc., a property management company that manages 217 apartments in Medford and Ashland. He has worked in this family business for nearly 30 years. Mr. Horton has also served on the board of directors for Sacred Heart School and was past president of the Southern Oregon Rental Association.

 

Bud Kaufman, Director Since 1998

Mr. Kaufman serves on the bank’s Audit, Compensation and Senior Loan Committees. He has been president of Croman Corp. since 1954. Croman Corp. is a logging and lumber company headquartered in White City, Oregon.

 

Bob Mayers, Director Since 2005

Mr. Mayers serves on the bank’s Audit, Nominating and Senior Loan Committees. He is the Chief Executive Officer for Adroit Construction based in Ashland, Oregon. He has been a partner at Adroit since 1981 and in the construction industry since 1971. Mr. Mayers has helped build his construction firm into one of the Rogue Valley's most prominent and reputable firms. Mr. Mayers was recognized by the Rotary Organization with the "Outstanding Business Person of the Year" award. He sits on the board of trustees for the Ashland YMCA, chairing their annual Scholarship for Kids Campaign. He also sits on the board of directors for the Mount Ashland Association, as well as the Associated General Contractors, Oregon-Columbia Chapter.

Doug Morse, Director Since 2007

Mr. Morse serves on the bank’s Audit and Senior Loan Committees. He has been a licensed real estate agent since 1990. He is a principal broker at John L. Scott in Medford and has held top listings in the Rogue Valley since 1995. Mr. Morse has been voted in the Mail Tribune’s Reader’s Choice Awards as the best real estate agent in the Rogue Valley for the past several years. Mr. Morse’s professional designations include: Graduate of the Real Estate Institute, Certified Residential Specialist, Accredited Buyers Representative and Previews Property International. He is a member of the Jacksonville/Applegate Rotary and the Rouge Valley Association of Realtors’ Million Dollar Club.

Cynthia Scherr, Director Since 2009

Ms. Scherr chairs the bank's Governance Committee and is on the Audit, Compensation and Senior Loan Committees.  She is founder and owner of Scherr Management Consulting. She has over 20 years of experience in senior-level executive functions and has worked extensively with some of the most renowned businesses, non-profits and government organizations in the state. Her clients utilize her expertise to refine their business fundamentals, develop realistic strategic plans, and align business goals with key stakeholders. Ms. Scherr’s community service includes: the Executive Committee of the Southern Oregon University Foundation Board, the Medford Rogue Rotary Club, the Advisory Board for the SOU School of Business, the Business Needs Committee for the Rogue Valley Workforce Development Council, and the vetting committee for the Jefferson Grapevine.

 

  Ken Trautman, Director Since 2008

Mr. Trautman is co-founder of People’s Bank of Commerce and has served as its President and Chief Executive Officer since September 2008. He was the bank’s President from 1998 until 2008, when he succeeded as President and CEO, after Mike Sickels retired. He serves on the bank’s Audit and Senior Loan Committees. Formerly, Mr. Trautman worked with Western Bank as Senior Vice President and Regional Administrator for Southern Oregon, before it was purchased by Washington Mutual in 1996. He has served on the board of directors for the Community Health Center, Britt Festivals, Greater Medford Rotary, D-9 Foundation and Oregon Banking Association. He is also actively involved with 4-H, FFA and other youth organizations.

 

Jim Wright, Director Since 2003

Mr. Wright currently chairs the bank’s Nominating Committee and serves on its Audit, ALCO and Senior Loan Committees. He is currently Vice Chairman of LTM and was President of the company from 1992-2000. He is also part owner of Capital Associates founded in 1980, and owns commercial real estate with a southern Oregon group. Mr. Wright's board involvement has included chairing the following boards of directors: Asante Health System, Southern Oregon University Foundation, Medford Rogue Rotary Club, Oregon Economic Development Commission, Oregon State Finance Committee and the American Red Cross. His honors include the "First Citizen Award" in 1998 from the Medford/Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, the "SIR Award" in 1991 from Associated General Contractors of Oregon, the "President's Medal" from SOU in 1986, and "Alumni of the Year" in 1985 from SOU; all considered among the most prestigious awards in their respective industries.
